In a study with 3-year postpartum follow-up, women who breastfed for longer tended to have lower fasting insulin concentrations, although the association did not reach statistical significance after multiple adjustment ( 34 ); however, these women in their 30s might recover their glucose homeostasis to some extent by 3 years postpartum.
