Of the 14 miRNAs, 6 were predicted from EST sequences (2.96% per 10,000 ESTs) and 8 were identified from GSSs (7.45% per 10,000 GSSs).These values are quite significant as compared to miRNA candidates from other plant species [ 5 ] and confirmed that EST and GSS analysis could be efficiently used to predict miRNAs in plants.
