The incidence of hospital‐acquired pneumonia increases after the age of 60 years, and the rate of aspiration pneumonia has been reported to be 50% in patients in their 60s, 70% in patients in their 70s, and over 80% in patients older than 80 years.(Teramoto et al., 2008 ) Our data showed a trend similar to that reported by a previous study; it is consider that most cancer patients develop aspiration pneumonia after surgery.
