Although a number of serum and synovial fluid cytokines analyzed did not reach statistical significance by diet or strain, we did observe that lean female fat-1 mice exhibited decreases in serum pro-inflammatory cytokines, including IFN-γ, TNF-α, and MCP-1, compared to lean female WT mice, providing a potential mechanism for the reduction in joint synovitis.
