Blood Eosinophilia and Its Stability in Hospitalized COPD Exacerbations are Associated with Lower Risk of All-Cause Mortality.

When the association analysis was repeatedly performed using 200 cells/μL as the cutoff value in the same model, blood eosinophils ≥ 200 cells/μL were associated with lower risk of all-cause mortality with borderline statistical significance (HR=0.76, 95% CI, 0.58–1.01, P =0.055) ( Supplementary Table A1 ).Once the cutoff value of blood eosinophil counts was raised to 300 cells/μL, the association did not reach statistical significance due to the relatively low number of patients above the cutoff value limiting the statistical power (HR=0.78, 95% CI, 0.55–1.10, P =0.153) ( Supplementary Table A2 ).
