A pharmacodynamic study during a phase II clinical trial with nilotinib in KIT-altered melanoma [ 16 ] showed a trend towards a reduction of growth factor expression in good responders compared to poor responders suggesting a link between growth factors and resistance to KIT inhibitors ( Figure 2 ).
