However, our study contradicts the findings obtained from the Modification of Diet in Renal Disease (MDRD) Study cohort where elevated serum calcium-phosphate product had a trend toward increased cardiovascular disease (CVD)-related mortality in CKD patients but did not reach statistical significance after adjustment for GFR and other confounders.[ 33 ] However, the MDRD cohort was underpowered with a sample size of 840 patients.
