The risk of ACM and stroke increased with each corresponding rise in serum uric acid level of 59 μmol/L (HR 1.06, 95% CI, 1.03–1.09 and HR 1.19, 95% CI, 1.08–1.31, respectively); for CHD, there was a trend towards a higher risk of CHD with a 59‐μmol/L increase in serum uric acid, although this did not reach statistical significance. 9 The results of these recent meta‐analyses lend further weight to the association between serum uric acid levels and risk of CV and kidney disease, including in patients with type 2 diabetes.
