A nonparametric test for trend across ordered groups, an extension of the Wilcoxon rank-sum test, was used to explore the relationship between tertiles of dairy consumption and change in clinical outcomes followed by step-wise univariate and multivariable linear regression models adjusted for candidate covariates to investigate the association between average dairy consumption and selected outcomes that showed a trend in the initial analysis (changes in HDL-C, and VLDL-C).
