Our findings did not reach statistical significance likely because the participants with GDM in our study were relatively healthy – none of them had major chronic conditions or a history of obstetric complications, and the majority were non-obese and did not have unfavorable lifestyle risk factors – thus they may have SHBG levels closer to those without GDM (see the mean SHBG levels by participants’ characteristics in Supplemental Digital Content, Table 3.
