To get more insight into the influence of the presence of electron‐withdrawing and electron‐donating substituents on the catalytic activity, substrates 1 , 5 , 6 , and 8 were considered for a reaction time reduced to 1 h. Although electron‐donating substituents have been reported to have a positive effect on hydrodeoxygenation activity, 22 we could not identify a clear trend in our particular case (see Table S4).
