The α-synuclein-expressing strains showed a trend towards increased respiratory activity in some (A53Tα-synuclein) or all (WT and truncated forms of α-synuclein), but only in the case of strains expressing the wild type protein did this reach statistical significance for every component of respiration ( Figure 8 b–g).
