A multivariable analysis of RLN palsy in 1,757 patients revealed that IONM protected against permanent RLN palsy, with an odds ratio [OR] of 0.43 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.19 to 0.93; P =0.033), although it did not reach statistical significance for protecting against transient RLN palsy (OR, 0.67; 95% CI, 0.44 to 1.01; P =0.061) [ 25 ].
