Among those with normal serum cortisol levels, Kaplan-Meier survival estimates showed that ABAT upregulation was favorable for survival ( z -score ≥ 0.5; median survival for patients with upregulated ABAT transcripts > 154 months, unaltered ABAT = 45 months; log-rank test; p = 3.0 × 10 −3 ), and approached significance even in patients with excess cortisol despite lower statistical power (data not shown).
