A clear trend can be seen in Fig. 1 e in which the orientation coherence length decreases with the initial collagen concentration, indicating that the cell orientations vary more rapidly with distance when the collagen coatings on the culture dishes are denser, resulting in the cells forming more swirling patterns overall.
