In the blood, both TSH and fT3 levels tended to be higher in the WKY rats than in control animals, and although these changes did not reach statistical significance, they suggested a weakening of the inhibitory effect of T3 on TSH secretion (i.e., the attenuation of the feedback mechanism regulating HPT axis activity).
