More ALS cases had served in the military (28% of cases versus 20% of controls), but the risk estimate did not reach statistical significance (OR: 1.09; 95%CI: 0.67–1.78 adjusted for age and gender). 11 The incidence of ALS was measured among all men and women who had served in the military for a minimum of one year in Denmark 12 using a population‐based nested case–control design.
