Previous studies with epicatechin showed a trend towards the stimulation of octanoyl ghrelin secretion in murine cells, while epicatechin gallate, a specific ligand for hTAS2R39, clearly stimulated octanoyl ghrelin—an effect that was abrogated by a specific antagonist for hTAS2R39 [ 15 ].
