Quantification of this staining demonstrated an increasing trend in the number of intracellular lipid droplets in 3- month-old WT mice exposed to low-level oxidative stress, similar to baseline levels seen in 3- month-old DJ-1 KO mice injected with PBS, and during aging of both WT and DJ-1 KO mice ( Fig. 2 D).
