The sentences

Most groups showed preference for the 8 mg/kg dose of cocaine, a dose in which preference is expected ( Campbell et al., 2000 ); however, animals sleep deprived before saline conditioning trials (noSD Coc, SD Sal, study 1) did not reach statistical significance for preference despite the majority of animals showing an increase in time spent on the cocaine-paired side from the pre to postconditioning tests (8/12).
