Interestingly, in our current analysis we found a significant trend between DFU depth and bacteria groups, where superficial infected DFU not involving tendon, capsule or bone and DFU penetrating to tendon or capsule were more likely to be infected by Gram-positive bacteria than those of the same depth and further complicated by the presence of ischemia.
