Although no statistically significant differences were found when the percentage of B cells in the baseline (7.38%) was compared with that found 10 weeks after IORT (5.91%), a trend towards significance was found (Wilcoxon signed-rank test, P = 0.062) ( Fig. 2B ).
By contrast, changes in CD3 + CD8 + cytotoxic T cells showed a progressive increase during the study period, with the highest values at 10 weeks as compared with baseline (67.10 vs 60.20%), but these differences did not reach statistical significance either when the changes of cell populations at different time periods or when the different time periods were compared with the baseline ( Fig. 2D ).
