Among the 13 included studies, 8 indicated that a lower serum Mg level was an independent risk factor for all-cause mortality ( p < 0.05) [ 20 , 23 , 24 , 26 , 27 , 28 , 29 , 31 ], and 5 studies did not reach statistical significance [ 21 , 22 , 25 , 30 , 32 ].
