Western blot analysis showed a trend towards a reduction of the AKT and p70S6K-mediated activating phosphorylation of mTOR at Ser2448, and significantly increased levels of pSer108-AMPKb1 (Fig. 3 c, d), both confirming rather inhibitory effects on the mTOR pathway by the expression of expanded ataxin-3 [ 21 , 23 ].
