The results showed a trend towards better visual acuity in patients with foveolar fixation, but there was no statistically significant difference in BCVA grouped by fixation location before and after surgery (before surgery: χ 2 = 1.43, P = 0.70; after surgery: χ 2 = 4.10, P = 0.25; Kruskal–Wallis analysis).
