Multivariate analysis performed on the variables identified in the univariable analysis showed that AGI grades III/IV (hazard ratio (HR), 2.68; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.69–4.25; P -value < 0.0001), male sex (HR, 1.7; 95% CI, 1.02–2.85; P -value =0.04) and age over 70 (HR, 2.8; 95% CI, 1.8-4.36; P-value <0.0001) were predictors of higher mortality, while SOFA score greater than 7 did not reach statistical significance (HR, 1.52; 95% CI, 0.98–2.37; P -value =0.058) (Fig. 2 ).
