However, efficacy analysis, despite not reaching statistical significance, showed a trend towards superiority of natalizumab over placebo: reduction in Crohn’s Disease Activity Index (CDAI) was numerically higher in the natalizumab group at week 6 (–37.7 points in the natalizumab group versus + 3.5 in the placebo group, p = 0.084). 89 As this study was not meant to prove efficacy, and we cannot know whether three additional infusions of natalizumab are actually sufficient to provide any significant benefit, this study only suggests the potentiality of add-on and temporary DTT.
