Although the primary endpoint was narrowly missed (56% of the control group and 67% of the two therapy groups achieved the primary endpoint), standardized behavioral swallowing interventions (either low or high-intensity) showed a trend to reduce the combined endpoint of mortality or institutionalization and significantly reduced the rate of medical complications and the frequency of bronchopneumonia [ 200 ].
