The rate of in-hospital death or transfer to an ICU was lower in women versus men (adjusted hazard ratio [HR]: 0.62, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.53–0.72; P < 0.001), whereas the observed difference in overall in-hospital deaths did not reach statistical significance ( P = 0.41) ( Fig. 2 ).
