Immunohistochemical staining for α-smooth muscle actin and CD31 as markers of blood vessels, lymphatic vessel endothelial hyaluronan receptor 1 (LYVE1) as markers of lymphatic vessels and CD172a as a marker of myeloid cells showed a trend towards higher expression in CLP-PEG implanted corneas (Fig. 6b , Supplementary Fig. 4 , Supplementary Table 8 ).
