Among tweeted articles, those that were retweeted (a possible proxy for strong public interest or colleague endorsement) also had higher citations compared with those that were not retweeted (72.3 vs 17.6, P =.004) ( Figure 1 ), although this did not reach statistical significance in the multivariate model ( β coefficient=23.2, P =.28), likely due to a small sample size.
