In the univariate analysis the MUST score was significantly associated with the occurrence of any postoperative complication ( p = 0.001) and postoperative death ( p = 0.001) but the association did not reach statistical significance for the prevalence of serious postoperative complications (Clavien–Dindo ≥ 3) ( p = 0.079).
