A systematic review reported that tenofovir was associated with lower risk of HCC development [adjusted hazard ratio (HR) 0.81; 95%CI: 0.62-0.85], however the beneficial effect did not reach statistical significance for non-cirrhotic patients (adjusted HR 0.83; 95%CI: 0.51-1.35)[ 99 ].
