They found that the SALAD technique and deliberate esophageal intubation collected a higher mean volume of aspirate in the lower airway (traditional 72 (45) ml; IEI 100 (45) ml; SALAD 83 (42) ml), but the differences did not reach statistical significance (p = 0.392).
