Although an exhaustive characterization of iron overload was lacking, they found slightly significant higher levels of s‐FERR in those with substantial exposure to respirable iron in welding fume compared to all other welders (median: 241 vs 121 ng/mL) and a higher prevalence of s‐FERR > 300 ng/mL [8/21 (38.1%) vs 24/171 (14.7%)] respectively.
