The two studies at moderate risk of bias showed either a weakly significant or a significant association between a portrayal of suicide and attempted suicide, but when analysed using a random-effects meta-analysis (which incorporates between-study heterogeneity into the calculation of the pooled estimate), we observed a non-significant association.
