The relationship between EDS and cardiovascular mortality was evident in participants without cardiovascular disease at baseline (HR, 2.34, 95% CI, 0.82 to 6.67), and similar to those with cardiovascular disease at baseline (HR, 2.57, 95% CI, 0.81 to 8.15), but did not reach statistical significance likely due to the relatively low number of events ( Table 3 ).
