The mean difference in thresholds showed a trend toward being negative at lower frequency (125 Hz) in women and at higher frequency (8000 Hz) in men and women older than 30 ( Fig. 4 ; Supplemental Tables S2, S3), indicating that hearing at those frequencies may have gotten better in the second decade.
