Impact of tiered restrictions on human activities and the epidemiology of the second wave of COVID-19 in Italy.

The progressive implementation of restrictions with spatially and temporally heterogeneous applications (see Table 1 ) between October 14 and November 6 (day of introduction of tiers) induced a clear trend of decline of human activities, with a decrease in the number of visitors in locations outside the residential settings and an increase in the time spent at home (Fig. 1 ).
