17 Whilst this study showed a duration of > 24 months of use being just marginally significant, this finding correlates with findings of studies indicating a link between prolonged use and physical or psychological dependence. 17 Whilst oxazepam has been considered an agent of low abuse potential, 18 it does have a shorter half-life compared to clonazepam that poses as a high-potency benzodiazepine with a long half-life contributing to a ‘safer’ profile. 19 This may account for the marginally significant difference found between the two agents in this study.
