The saturated NHC complex 1 bearing the cyclohexyl substituent at the nitrogen atom exhibited the highest ethane conversion (acetic acid yield of 40%) while the effect of different ring size substituent of complexes 1 and 4 was moderately significant (15% yield decrease from a C 6 to C 12 ring, Figure 2 ).
