Other structures such as the putamen, thalamus and cerebellar dentate are also known to accumulate iron, however at a slower rate or resulting in a lower mean susceptibility value, and, therefore, correlations between χ, R2* and age in these regions did not reach statistical significance given the relatively small group size ( n = 40) and age range (2–21).
