Greater job strain was also associated with less improvement of general cognitive ability before retirement (estimate = −0.79, SE = 0.29, p = .007), as well as slower decline after retirement (estimate = 0.37, SE = 0.16, p = .020), although this last result did not reach statistical significance after Bonferroni correction for multiple comparisons.
