Our results obtained in APPswe cells show an impairment in mitochondrial dynamics due to an unbalance between fusion and fission, particularly in MFN2 levels ( Figure 4 a–e), as well as a slight increase in mitochondrial biogenesis ( Figure 4 f–h) that did not reach statistical significance, which could represent an attempt to improve mitochondrial metabolic capacity reducing the cascade of deleterious events caused by mitochondrial dysfunction.
