Diabetic, STZ-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy: Influence on Heat Hyperalgesia (Hot Plate Test) In the mouse model of painful diabetic neuropathy induced by STZ, an overall effect of treatment on the heat nociceptive threshold was not demonstrated for both 50a and 56a in the hot plate test ( F [4,38] = 0.9254, p > 0.05, and F [4,40] = 1.589, p > 0.05, respectively). As shown in Figure 13 (panel B), STZ slightly increased thermal nociceptive threshold in mice but this effect compared to that of normoglycemic control did not reach statistical significance.
