Although compared to placebo-treated patients, the melatonin-treated patients exhibited a significantly higher decline in the mean required dose of the vasopressor through the active treatment period, this trend did not reach statistical significance ( p value = 0.22); however, as a supplemental analysis, a comparison was made between two study groups for the mean change in the required dose of vasopressor at 96 h compared to baseline.
