“Burned-out” patients also showed a trend toward a higher incidence of extra-pulmonary visceral metastases, although not statistically significant ( p = 0.0632); the presence of such secondary lesions is a documented poor prognostic factor in adults ( 12 ) but not in the pediatric population at the state of the art.
