Aging modified rectal sensory thresholds in our study; a positive correlation was demonstrated between age and maximum tolerable volume and there was a nearly significant relationship between age and volume at first urge of defecation, even when adjusting for sex and history of hypothyroidism, past gastrointestinal medical or surgical history.
