This latter hypothesis seems likely, considering that structural MRI markers were stable over time in the active group but worsened in patients undergoing the passive treatment (Bonzano et al., 2014 ), and functional MRI showed a trend toward brain activity normalization only in the active group (Bonzano et al., 2019 ).
