It is noteworthy that even during the period of a negative trend in life expectancy (2000–2003), the growth rates of avoidable mortality turned out to be lower than the growth rates of total losses in both the male and female populations, amounting to 4.2% versus 7.7% for men and 7.3% versus 8.2% for women, respectively.
